Giday T. Adhanom is a passionate community advocate and philanthropist dedicated to addressing critical issues within her community, spanning from housing to education. With a deep commitment to social equity, she fiercely opposes gentrification and foreclosure, actively working to preserve affordable housing and ensure stability for low-income families in King County, Seattle, and beyond.
As a community organizer at heart, Giday invests her time, expertise, and resources into uplifting underserved communities, and empowering individuals and families facing systemic barriers. Her advocacy extends into the justice system, where she has collaborated with organizations such as the Black Prisoners Caucus, volunteering her efforts to support incarcerated individuals and promote their rights.
As a co-founder of Africatown, Giday has played a pivotal role in establishing a vibrant cultural and economic hub for the Black community in Seattle, fostering local businesses, promoting education, and encouraging unity. Her unwavering dedication and resilience have made her a true leader in the community, inspiring meaningful change and creating hope for those impacted by systemic inequities.
